April-May 2022: Consuming and Producing

April-May 2022

A list of books, audiobooks, podcasts, television, and more that I am consuming.
A list of achievements, articles, or plans in the shop to showcase my production.

This series also maps my consumer habits: my time on media can lead to more projects and purchases, as well as influences my thoughts.

Reading :: Listening :: Watching

Wanting :: Getting :: Making

What I am Reading this Month:

Article that had an impact:

The Most Important (And Rarest) Psychological Skill You Need to Upgrade Your Life: It can transform everything, but it’s really f*cking hard to find. #medium

Timothy Snyder (Easter) “Russia’s easter offensive”

How to be positive in a world full of negative people, by [[Ayodeji Awosika]] #article #medium

When Albert Einstein and Henri Bergson rowed about time _ the economist

[“Dark Matter”] A translation of a #poem by the contemporary Ukrainian poet Volodymyr Dibrova

Look!

The barrier between us and the netherworld.  We don’t usually see it.  Why should we pay attention?  Our cares are heavy enough already.

But something has happened.

Do you see?

The membrane is broken, a miasma of lies and hatred flows out.  It drains will and reason from the weak.  Even the strong are in shock.

It seems to defy the laws of physics

It is what it is, look out.

Toxic, not to be touched, not yet named.  And that’s our problem.

What is unnamed escapes unpunished.

Where’s our word for spasmodic contempt and blinding annihilation?

For a lie so thick it absorbs every truth?

Search.  To name is to know.

That is the only rule.

Of our only game.

Consuming:

What I want:

Still Waiting: Hammer A3-341 Jointer Planer 12″ Combo

iVAC blast gates and snap together Duct work

What I got:

Festool TID 18 and TPC 18/4 Quad Drive Impact Driver and Hammer Drill set

LED lights for the loft

Wera Joker Metric Set

Sony WF-1000XM4 Earbuds – ($278 list, but buy them refurbished and it is nearly half price: $148)

WeBoost Cell phone signal booster – so I have cell service in my shop

Odd thing: I never go clothes shopping or shoe shopping. Maybe once or twice per year do I buy clothes, usually 5 or 6 things, then I am done. But, my mom was in town, so we went shopping and I dropped way too much money. I even bought On Cloud shoes, which is a whole thing. I have had no less than 6 people say they were shocked to see me wearing On Cloud. And Lululemon dressy clothes. So weird. I am dressing like a golfing CEO.

What I produced:

Podcasts:

DIY Stuff

Ongoing: Mudding the walls for the loft, sanding them, painting them.

Installed an extra section of wall, ran a 220 line, and plug behind the wall for the jointer/planer. (First time running 220)

Other Things

Set up about 90% of the website for another e-commerce store.
The previous complicated e-commerce store is on hold… owner is a bit overwhelmed.
Hung out with my Mom and her husband, had 2 migraines, went on a company retreat, got sick, kept hassling the septic company for repairs, went to the Dallas Art Fair, saw Interpol in concert, and saw Yacht Rock in concert, hung with Kenny Reid and Danny which was great.
