Consuming:
What I want:
From Forever ago: So… I don’t have 220 power in the shop, and yet want 220 tools, and then my wife bought a second car to race with and has taken up the front 3 feet of the garage and part of my storage shed with all of her new autocross car racing stuff. I am now looking at building a shop. Maybe 1,200 sq feet. (30×40 or 60×20)
Problem: zoning requires me to have engineered plans, a certified contractor pour the concrete, have a concrete drive all the way to the shop, and the shop has to be clad the same as the house. So, all that doubles whatever the shop would normally cost.
(If I can build a shop for $40k or $50k, then pulling the concrete driveway 100 feet back to it also costs $30k, then cladding it in brick would cost an extra $10k.)
March: I just bit the bullet on a Florip dovetail saw, even though they are super backordered.
I still want the Jet planer/jointer combo, because after messing with the Cherry Wood for the bed, and the Hard Maple the previous month, I am tired of trying to hand plane or sand out all the problems I get from my Rigid Planer, and then the table saw. None of it is awful, it is just annoying.
New finds that I want:
What I got:
Small luxury purchases: Garrett Wade goggles, cause they look cool.
Bridge City Tools, larger Multi Tool.
Savage Industries: An apron for the shop with lots of pockets and a split front.
2 Hand Screw clamps from Woodcraft.
Pica pencil from Lee Valley
What I produced:
3 podcasts this month.
I also interviewed someone and that will come out next month.
And I am setting up a couple more interview based podcasts.
